Aberdovey Golf Club is one of the most cherished links courses in Britain — founded in 1892, shaped over the years by James Braid, Harry Colt and Herbert Fowler, and consistently ranked among the UK and Ireland's top 100 courses. Ian Woosnam honed his game here as a boy, and the celebrated golf writer Bernard Darwin loved Aberdovey so much he called it the course he loved best in the world, immortalising it in his writing. It's a classic out-and-back links along the Dyfi estuary, with huge dunes, an ever-present wind, and genuinely spectacular scenery within Eryri National Park. The dormy house offers comfortable accommodation right by the 18th green, and the clubhouse has excellent catering and a warm welcome for visitors as well as members.
