Corris Mine Explorers takes you deep into the Braichgoch slate mine, worked from 1836 until it closed in the early 1970s — a genuine time capsule, with tools, candles and even miners' graffiti left exactly where they were dropped. An expert guide leads you through broad, hand-dug tunnels and cavernous chambers, sharing the stories of the Victorian miners who worked here, with narrower optional sections for those wanting a bit more adventure. It shares a site with the Corris Craft Centre — nine independent workshops, a café and King Arthur's Labyrinth — so it's easy to make a full day of it. Pre-booking is strongly recommended, especially in school holidays. Minimum age 8, with free all-day parking on site.
